School Clubs

The Banksia Park Primary School community embodies a vision that is characterised by everyone working in partnership, supporting our students to reach their potential not just academically, but socially, emotionally, physically and creatively.

Our school community knows it takes a “village to raise a child” and that programs and initiatives beyond the classroom build strong connections and foster a sense of belonging to our school. Staff along with parent and community volunteers work hard to support the inclusion of a range of programs, activities and school clubs for students at Banksia Park.

Robotics Club

Robotics Club is coordinated by a parent volunteer who facilitates a weekly after school session using Lego Robots. This program allows students to work together collaboratively to solve real world problems by coding their robots and building with Lego.

TAIKO Drumming

Taiko Drumming is used for religious ceremonies, theatrical performance, military action and communication as well as music making in Japanese culture.

At Banksia Park weekly sessions at lunchtime bring together interested students to learn about Taiko Drumming and prepare for group performances such as the annual faction athletics carnival parade when student competitors march to their bays to the beat of the drum.

BUGs Ukulele

BUGs (Banksia Ukulele Group) is for Year 3 students who wish to participate in Ukulele lessons once a week at lunchtime with supervising class teacher Jade Creado and visiting Music Tutor Meredith. Ukulele lessons are private (not run by the school) and a cost is involved for participation.

Our BUGs are regular performers in the playground at lunch times and each year perform for the school, showcasing their ukulele talents.

Clean Up Club

Clean Up Club is an initiative developed by students in Year 3 who were concerned about the amount of rubbish they had observed in the natural bushland around our school, particularly on canteen days. After proposing their idea to the school principal and securing a small budget they made plans for change.

Students developed posters to teach about the importance of picking up our rubbish and displayed them around school. They also purchased buckets, gloves and grabbers and invited other interested students to lead a lunch time clean up the school grounds each week.

After achieving great success in reducing the amount of waste on our school grounds, Clean Up Club continues to meet once a week to maintain a clean school ensuring the sustainability of their valuable project.

Junior Choir

Students in years 2 and 3 are able to join the Junior Choir at lunch time to share the joy of singing. The Junior Choir provides an opportunity for enthusiastic young singers to come together in an engaging and fun environment. Our aim is to experience the joy of singing together.
