Our outstanding creative visual arts program enjoys an excellent reputation. At Banksia Park our young artists explore the different elements of art, such as colour, texture, shape, space, pattern, form and design. Students create works in a range of visual art forms such as drawing, design, painting, colour media, collage, mixed media, printmaking, textiles, ceramics, modelling, sculpture and 3D construction.
Students gain first-hand knowledge of the relationship between the artist and the audience, through a range of media and exposure to arts history along with famous and local artists. With a focus on skill development these elements of design are integrated into other curriculum areas, particularly literacy, supporting to explore their creativity and further develop their skills and talents.
Students are engaged in the visual arts from the early years and build on their skills from year to year. Students demonstrating a high capacity in this area are further supported through a gifted and talented visual arts extension program.
