Class Placements

Staff work collaboratively, investing significant time and energy, informed by a wide range of data, to ensure students are placed in the most suitable class structure available, to best meet their individual needs, within the boundaries of the resources available to us.

At Banksia Park we aim to create similar classes with mixed abilities of students working at a range of different levels, understanding that every classroom is a multi-age group, with students at different stages of learning and development. We do not “stream” our classes. Staff at Banksia Park PS are highly experienced and skilful at providing a differentiated curriculum that caters to all children as individuals.

As such we do not ask for ‘requests for particular teachers or specific class structures, however, we value further input into this process. We recognise that information from a parent’s/carer’s perspective assists us to maximise the learning outcomes for our students.

If you have important educational considerations for class placement that may assist us to maximise the learning outcomes for your child, aside from class structure or requests for specific teachers, please contact the school in writing. Emails regarding class placements for your child for the following year should be submitted in writing to banksiapark.ps@education.wa.edu.au and be addressed to the school principal.

A reminder is sent in the school newsletter annually asking for this information by the end of Week 4, Term 4.
