At Banksia Park Primary School, class placement is a carefully considered process designed to support the learning, wellbeing and individual needs of all students.
Each year, staff work collaboratively to develop class structures and determine student placements. A range of information is considered as part of this process, including student learning needs, social and emotional considerations, student relationships, class balance and the staffing and resources available to the school.
Parents and carers who have important educational considerations that may assist the school when determining their child’s class placement are invited to provide these in writing. While these considerations will be carefully reviewed, it may not always be possible to accommodate all requests.
Requests for specific teachers cannot be considered. Previous requests are not automatically carried forward and must be resubmitted each year if they remain relevant.
Written requests should be addressed to the Principal and emailed to banksiapark.ps@education.wa.edu.au within the timeframe communicated by the school each year.
Final decisions regarding class structures and student placements remain the responsibility of the Principal, in consultation with relevant staff.
